Personalised Support for Lasting Change

What is EFT Tapping?

EFT stands for Emotional Freedom Techniques and is often called Tapping because it involves tapping gently on acupressure points on the face and upper body. It’s a stress reduction technique that is clinically shown to reduce cortisol production in the body.

EFT is safe, effective and easy-to-learn. You can use it on your own to deal with day-to-day stresses you face in life and it can also be used to process and clear bigger issues by working with a practitioner.

How does EFT Tapping Work?

EFT Tapping sends a calming signal to the amygdala (the brain’s stress centre) allowing you to step out of fight-or-flight mode and regain a sense of calm and control. This not only helps you feel better but also re-engages the executive functioning part of your brain, which is essential for clear thinking, problem-solving, and creativity.

By focusing on what’s triggering you whilst tapping, EFT allows you to release the “emotional charge” tied to specific events or issues. The goal is to reach a point where the problem no longer holds any power over you - leaving you with freedom, peace of mind and confidence.

What Can EFT Help With?

EFT can be applied to most issues that you would work on in a traditional talk therapy setting and also those that you would work on in a coaching setting (e.g. life coaching or business coaching).

It can address a wide range of issues, including:

  • Stress and anxiety

  • Procrastination and productivity

  • Enhancing creativity (e.g., overcoming writer’s block)

  • Professional development (e.g., public speaking, impostor syndrome)

  • Coping with life transitions (e.g., new jobs, parenthood, grief/loss)

  • Blocks around money/finances

  • Health and wellbeing goals

  • Breaking unhelpful habits (e.g. food cravings)

  • Chronic pain

What Makes EFT Different?

EFT differs from traditional talk therapy in two key ways:

1. EFT is a somatic therapy

It engages both the mind and body, empowering you to go beyond understanding your issue on an intellectual level so you can process and clear the emotions and memories underpinning the specific challenges you face.

2. EFT re-engages the prefrontal cortex

During a stress response the brain’s executive functions decrease. Tapping calms the stress response which in turn re-engages the prefrontal cortex enabling you to think critically, see new perspectives and come up with creative solutions to challenges.
